On July 2, 2013, the Treasury Department announced that the employer mandate, scheduled to begin in 2014, would be delayed until 2015. While certainly a significant development, some are overlooking the fact that key provisions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (“PPACA” or “Obamacare”) remain on track and, barring further delay, will begin in 2014 and usher in a new era with sweeping requirements and challenges.
